The 'Julmarknad' is the traditional pre-Christmas Fair held at the Scandinavian Center, offering 'glögg', Swedish baked pastries, food, Christmas decorations and live music.

Lucia Celebration

Lucia Celebration

Lucia is a big event for Swedish-Canadians and their friends. This pre-Christmas tradition features crowning of the annual Lucia, folk dances, music, sing-along, dance around the Christmas tree, performances by the Swedish School's students.

Valborg (Valpurgis) Celebration

Volunteering

Valborg Celebration, held in may, celebrates the coming of spring. We usually meet at the Ambleside beach. Lit the traditional Valborg bon-fire and just enjoy ourselves.

Swedish National Day

Since 1983, Sweden has celebrated its National Day on 6 June. This is the date on which Gustav Vasa was crowned king in 1523, which laid the foundation of Sweden as an independent state, and on which a new, important constitution was adopted in 1809.Jun 8, 2016
