SWEDISH SCHOOL
started in 1978.
History:
The school started in 1978 and consists of a preschool for ages 3 and 4, a kindergarten group with preparatory
teaching in reading as well as supplementary Swedish education for age 6 up to grade 6, supported by the Swedish
School Board. The school also offers teaching to children not speaking Swedish, hence,
Swedish as a second language, from age 5.
(If there are at least 5 pupils the school can help with Sofia school grades 7 - 9, according to the Swedish education system.
If the student fulfills the courses they will receive a certificate for senior level elementary school in Sweden.)
Swedish School is for children 3-13 years old. Currently we have 65 children in eight different classes.
They meet once a week for lessons in the Swedish language, Swedish traditions, history and geography.
The children learn about typical Swedish customs and traditions, as well as traditional songs and music.
The School has a very good library with lots of children's books for them to enjoy.
The children also take part in traditional events within the Swedish Cultural Society, like Valborg and Lucia.
To enroll your kids in Swedish School you need to be a member in the Swedish Cultural Society. For more information follow this link.
